Sara Duterte takes oath as the Philippines’ 15th Vice President

Davao City–Sara Zimmerman Duterte-Carpio took an oath as the Philippines’ 15th Vice President at San Pedro Square, Davao City, on Sunday, June 19, 2022.

The event started with a thanksgiving mass led by Archbishop Romulo Valles in the San Pedro Cathedral at 3 p.m.

After the mass, Supreme Court Justice Ramon Paul Hernano administered Duterte’s oath-taking as the 15th vice president of the Republic of the Philippines.

During her inauguration address, VP Sara shared her life lesson on overcoming our difficulties and achieving the aspirations that we should commit to heart the priorities of God, country, and family. 

“…There is a God. A God whose will transcend the desires of our hearts, one whose will direct us to the way that we might not have imagined, but a way that consecrates ourselves every day to help our fellowmen overcome the difficulties they face in their lives, to change lives, to save lives….”

Sara, 44, was the running mate of Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who also won in the May 9 elections and will pledge as the country’s president on June 30, when their six-year term begins.

A MUSIKAHAN: Pasasalamat concert, spearheaded by Andrew E, Isay Alvarez, and Robert Seña, among others, will cap off the series of events on her inauguration day.

Sara Duterte, the daughter of outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte, won the 2022 presidential race with over 32 million votes by a landslide. Also, she will serve as incoming education secretary under the Marcos administration.
